FLOATING DOCKS
"GET A GREAT DOCK FOR A GREAT PRICE!"
SAFETY
AND STABILITY - The most common dock we build is a monolithic floating unit.
Because they are monolithic they are far more stable
than a typical floating dock - typical meaning where two or more sections of dock are pinned
together using pivoting connections and the sections deflect according to where
weight is placed on them when you walk, making them somewhat unstable. Our docks don't do that, they are
floating, but are very stable and similar in that regard to stationary piling
mounted docks, with the added benefit that they stay at a fixed height close to
the water. A piling dock has to be built at a high fixed height to avoid major
flooding damage that can be caused by severe winter high water. When the lake comes back down to summer level,
now at a
fixed height of more than four feet, you can feel like you have to base jump from your
dock to get to the water, not to mention trying to tie a boat to it without
worrying about it slipping underneath and severely damaging your dock or the
boat!
ENVIRONMENTALLY - Our float drums are black polyethylene (vinyl) coated at a thickness of more than 1/8", polystyrene filled, very durable, have no negative environmental impact on the health of the water, provide great floatation and will last for decades, if not more. Our docks are anchored to the lake using galvanized steel pilings, and are capable of holding the dock securely in place in high wind and waves, severe boat wake and heavy boat traffic.
AESTHETICALLY
- A
floating monolithic dock is the better aesthetic product as well, as it is far
less obtrusive visually and blends nicely with your existing waterfront.
We design our docks specifically to maximize the function and form we think is
necessary for maximum use of residential waterfront. A standard Whipple
floating dock is essentially an island, for having fun on and entertaining, with a
promenade walk, with room to tie a boat (or place a boat lift) on the
outside, room for small boat tie-up (or a PWC
lift) on the inside, and even room for a visiting neighbor boat and a visiting neighbor
PWC - that's 2 boats and 2 PWC's, and you can get more! We regularly use
our dock with two chaise lounges and chairs for 4-6 adults on the end with a myriad
of kids and it works wonderfully! We wrap our docks in Cedar or a man-made
maintenance free wood, and the look that is achieved is very similar to that of
a piling dock with just the right amount of water under it... all the time!
Economically - A floating dock is typically far less expensive than a fixed piling dock, you save thousands on the initial investment and get a product that is far superior, and that you'll use and be happier with in the long run. Take a look at our pictures, check back to our site often (we're always adding new stuff), and shop around, we're sure you'll agree, a Whipple Dock is the best product you'll find - at a great price.
